Stunning Tlaquepaque Wedding
Some couples make me think that I have the easiest job in the world.
Joy and I got to know Anna and Jeremy when we all chose the solitude and rugged beauty of the Mogollon Rim for their engagement shoot. When they booked Tlaquepaque in Sedona as their wedding venue, I knew that Anna and Jeremy’s stunning Tlaquepaque wedding was going to become a dream event.
Anna can transform a casual engagement session dress into a gown worthy of the red carpet just by wearing it—she’s got that special magic. All the same, she can put up her hair into one of those, “it’s more complicated than it looks” styles, step into an elegant wedding dress—sheer lace bodice, buttons, and all—and still look just like Anna.
Beautiful, genuine, graceful.
She wore the same gold disc earrings on her wedding day as she did at the engagement session, carrying a traditional Mexican theme throughout the photo series.
And then there’s Jeremy. We love how he chose a vivid blue suit over traditional understated tones. His crimson tie matched the roses tucked into Anna’s eucalyptus bouquet. Jeremy is a little camera shy, but by the end of our Mogollon excursion we had a good rapport… and on his wedding day, Anna provided him with plenty of distraction from the lens.
A recreation of a traditional Mexican town with Spanish-influenced architecture, Tlaquepaque (pronounced T-la-keh-pah-keh) has become a favorite Arizona destination wedding venue. Look again; that’s not a Spanish villa. It’s an upscale open-air market showcasing Sedona’s favorite artists. The bright, warm adobe walls enhance my portrait subjects’ natural glow. When the sun goes down and the celebration continues in low-light conditions, it’s time to rise to the challenge with a combination of ambient and photographer-engineered lighting to preserve the romantic atmosphere.
I’m grateful to have had the honor of documenting Anna and Jeremy’s wedding story, from their engagement session to the last dance at their reception. They’re a wonderful couple with such big love for one another, their friends, and family, and Tlaquepaque was an excellent venue choice for bringing everyone together to celebrate.
Thanks, you two, for making it easy.
