El CHorro Weddings
The beautiful venue you see now has a rich history dating back to 1934 when it was initially built as a school for girls. A mere three years later, it was purchased by Jan and Mark Gruber, who turned it into a restaurant and lodge frequented by Hollywood names such as Clark Gable and more. Eventually, in 2009 it was purchased by Jaquie Dorrance and joined by Kristy and Tim Moore. The property underwent extensive updates to enhance the buildings and create the stunning outdoor and indoor spaces you see now.
Brief History of El Chorro Wedding Venue
This venue really is one of the most beautiful venues in our area and one of our personal favorites. Take a walk throughout the grounds during your wedding celebration. There are so many stunning plants outside. There are also several great outdoor fire pits or fireplaces, which look great in wedding photos. The sunsets in this area are gorgeous, so we would definitely suggest getting a few sunset wedding shots during your wedding celebration.
El Chorro has numerous well-manicured pathways begging to be photographed in beautiful light. From a tree-covered path outside your reception and ceremony area to a towering and full cacti pathway right by the large ceremony area. Both are the perfect backdrop for your photos, and all locations are framed in beautiful Cammel Back Mountain views.
El Chorro is a restaurant, so you do not have to worry about finding the perfect caterer. Your perfect caterer is right there at your wedding venue. The food itself is so beautiful that you'll likely want a few photos of it to include in your wedding photography album.

Event Lawn
If you are planning on a large celebration, you may want to consider using the Event Lawn. It has enough room for 300 seated guests or 500 standing guests for a reception. In addition, it has a raised stone staging area, which is an attractive option for the wedding ceremony. The beautifully manicured lawn, gorgeous trees, and mountain background create an elegant setting for your wedding.
Herb Garden
The Herb Garden is a beautiful choice for couples wanting a small, intimate wedding experience. It can fit 100 seated guests or a cocktail reception for 80 people. You will love your wedding ceremony pictures with a stunning mountain background.
Classroom Bar and Bocce Lawn
This is an excellent option if you want your wedding to have a fun indoor-outdoor feeling. It has enough room for 100 people for a seated meal. Your guests can relax next to the copper-top fireplace in the classroom, enjoy a few photos next to the trees on the Bocce Lawn, and admire the view of the mountains as they enjoy a great meal. The Classroom Bar and Bocce Lawn are paired with the Herb Garden for wedding packages.
Casa Paloma
This indoor setting has enough room for 300 for a cocktail reception or 100-250 people for a sit-down dinner. The bride also has use of a bridal changing room, which is connected to the event space. The full stage and large dancing floor make this an excellent option for couples who really want to make their wedding celebration into a party. Photos of you and your guests dancing look wonderful. The venue's gorgeous chandeliers also look so great in photographs. Even inside, the large windows give you great views of the mountains and the desert's beauty. Guests can also go outside to the exterior patio, and this venue option is paired with the Event Lawn for a grand indoor-outdoor wedding celebration.
Accommodations for Ceremonies and Receptions
El Chorro has multiple options to cater to every upscale wedding event. While pricing varies depending on the date, your guest count and spaces reserved, you can expect the costs to be around $3,500 - $5,500 for Ceremonies, while receptions can include a minimum food and beverage of $20,000 and up with meals ranging from $98 - $150 per person.
