The Mayflower Hotel Wedding
Amber and George’s Mayflower Hotel wedding, is one we will never forget. Stepping out of the cab onto the vibrant streets of DC, we were face to face with the historic and beautifully maintained Mayflower Hotel Washington DC. Being from the desert, the crisp fall air and turning leaves, it seemed only natural for us to want to move to the city immediately.
The Love Story
Amber and George’s first date was overlooking the Potomac River in D.C. Both knew immediately that they would end up together. They were even more sure when George’s two daughters met Amber for the first time and became inseparable. At his proposal, George wrote Amber a song. Then, he performed it live on stage in front of her and everyone else to see. At that point, their 11 months of dating bliss moved to a new stage, and they would be married six months later at the Mayflower Hotel Washington DC.

The Mayflower Hotel Washington
Amber and George wanted their wedding at the Mayflower Hotel Washington, to feel timeless and elegant. So they chose muted mauve and pink while emphasizing bright whites and creams. George wanted a little edginess, so they went with an unexpected bold black invitation suit and name cards.
Our couple choose the historic Hotel Mayflower DC, because of its grand ballrooms and dynamic front entrance. In addition, the Mayflower Hotel’s legendary architecture is breathtaking both inside and out, which provided the perfect backdrop and allowed them the freedom to invest in minimal details, as the Mayflower Hotel Washington is naturally beautiful on its own.
The grand hallway was our favorite part of the Mayflower Hotel’s stunning offerings. Perfectly lit, the crisp light brightness beckoned to us as wedding photographers in DC, so we were delighted when Amber told us that this area was a must-have photo op. Then, as we toured the hotel’s stunning Palm Court Ballroom, our jaws dropped as the double doors opened, revealing an incredible glass dome with a hanging chandelier that graced the ceiling above where Amber & George would say, “I Do.”

The Mayflower Wedding Venue in the State Ballroom
During the reception, Georges’s edginess again shined; he opted for an all-white tuxedo jacket and traded his seat at the sweetheart table to jam with his band and serenade his new wife with the song he wrote for his proposal. Likewise, Amber and George embraced their Chinese heritage as Amber changed into a vibrant red satin gown during the couple’s Chinese tea ceremony. This Mayflower Hotel Washington DC wedding was the perfect setting for their families to come together and share their history, love, and culture.
It’s an incredible opportunity to leave and feel connected to a location. We can’t wait to return to this Mayflower wedding venue, as admirers, guests, and a preferred photographer for the Hotel. We thank those who worked so diligently, making each part of Amber and Georges’s day a piece of history forever imparted on the walls of The Mayflower and in the hearts of those who attended.
